Unlucky in Bugs

One woman’s bed bug story

I got my first three bites on June 7, 2008… two more about a week later… tried to set traps for them but didn’t catch any, and just when I started to relax again on July 1, 2008, I saw a little brown lentil crawling on the edge of my duvet cover at the improbable hour of 10:30 pm and squished it with a post-it. The next day I took it and the post-it to M&M Pest Control in Manhattan in a plastic Ziploc… confirmed: I had bed bugs in my Queens, New York apartment.

  1. Hey there,

As a woman of fine bedbug expertise, I’m wondering about what your PCO has told you about preserving things like books and electronics. I’ve had bedbug issues in my apartment – it seems like a very minor case but as we all know “minor” is still “intense” with BBs – but my building is infested and I don’t trust that they will stay gone once they’re gone so I’m moving out. I’m getting rid of everything that I need to in order not to take them with me and I wanted to know what the advice is on things like books, TVs, stereos? These are the things I would hate to throw out, but will if I must.

thanks so much! My own exterminators aren’t really so helpful on these matters.
