Bed Bugs and Post-Giuliani New York
At least one reason why bed bugs have captured the New York imagination so is that they just don’t fit the narrative of Post-Giuliani New York. In the era of 311, The Gates and The Falls, Sex and the City: The Movie, and $6 million brownstones in Brooklyn, bed bugs on Park Avenue just does not jive with what the public has been sold about the new New York. This kind of thing just wasn’t supposed to happen here anymore. So where’s our Bug-Free Bedroom Act, Bloomberg? Do it for the exterminators and the encasement manufacturers at the very least.
