Day 2: Can’t sleep, might as well blog
Pre-pre-treatment photos of my lovely, if infested, apartment… doesn’t it just look so clean and cozy and innocent?
The arsenal (thank you Home Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond). I followed Bedbugger.com FAQs and bought zip cable ties (pretty neon!) but instead of lawn trash bags I bought a 50-ct. box of large blue see-through recycling bags made by Husky (I wanted to get the clear ones but they only came in boxes of 100 and it was too heavy to carry home). If I’m going to be living out of these I need to be able to see what’s in them. I also found the XL Ziploc bags at Home Depot and bought regular gallon and quart Ziploc bags at BB&B. I also bought Swifter mop refills, wet and dry, latex gloves, two Space Bags (which I’m using just as zippered bags to help organize clothes more easily and accessibly, I’m not using the vacuum function), and blue painter’s tape (Scotch brand, 2 in. width). Also got mesh lingerie bags for my delicates, which I’d been meaning to get anyway.
Clothes to toss (I was ruthless):
How much will my dry cleaning bill be? $240? $300?

I was considering booking a Hostel be in New York City for a week stay. I read mixed reviews. When i Googled the address of the hostel, I came up with a Bedbugger.com report about the bed bugs there at the Hostel. At first I was skeptical until I started searching and reading more reviews and more about Bedbugs , only to discover what an expensive and troubling issue this is and how it is not only hostels , but apartments and nice Hotels also. Upon reading about what to do and if there is a way to cope with the situation.
I find your blog very interesting. I noticed though when reading about dealing with the bedbug situation ,that is says storing your clothing in plastic bags can only make the situation worse, unless you plan to leave those clothes in those bags for over 18 months. Also though you live in an apartment building where these bedbugs might come from another apartment. Or perhaps hitch rides from rats. I admire your courage in combating the bedbugs. I truly hope your successful in ridding yourself of those pesky critters
Sincerely, scared to death to travel to New York City and catch bedbugs
